Single-Origin Kenyan Green Coffee

From rich floral notes to sweet berry undertones, our coffees showcase the territory of Kiambu County. Every grade tells a story of rich red soil, careful cultivation, and nearly a century of expertise.

We do not aggregate; we cultivate.

Unlike the cooperative model, where beans from thousands of farms are mixed, Karunguru offers a single-estate guarantee. Every bean in your jute bag was grown, pulped, fermented, and dried on our 300 acres. We control the variables, so you can control the roast.

Our Production

In an average production year, the Estate has the capacity to produce approximately up to 120 tonnes of green coffee, depending on climatic conditions and yield performance. Additionally, small-scale value addition through roasting produces approximately up to 15 tonnes of roasted coffee annually, primarily for specialty and local markets.

Two Seasons, Consistent Quality

Early Crop (April-July)

The bulk of our yearly production is approximately 120 tons. The quality of this harvest may not be high in most farms, but at Karunguru, we manage our trees to give the best quality all year round. This coincides with Kenya's heavy rains, so drying takes longer than usual (beyond the standard 7-14 days), but we never compromise on achieving optimal moisture content.

Late Crop (October-December)

Although the yield is lower, the late crop produces heavier coffee, which commands higher prices. These beans exhibit concentrated flavours and are prized by specialty roasters worldwide.

The Special Blends We Produce

The balanced pH of our rich red soil allows us to produce a wide range of specialty Kenyan Arabica coffee. We sell our coffee as the Karunguru Specialty Blend, a signature expression of our territory.

Estate AA - The Grand Cru (Screen 17-18)

Here, the altitude and volcanic soils create a microclimate ideal for Arabica coffee. Our coffee is grown on rich volcanic soil, nourished by clean, consistent rainfall, and handpicked with care.

Shade trees protect the cherries, while the slow ripening develops complex sugars that translate to exceptional cup profiles.

Visitors remark on the tranquillity of our fields-row upon row of trees dotted with bright red cherries under the Kenyan sun. We invite you to walk among them, feel the soil, and experience the terroir yourself.
